Nervous System Based Wellness and Innate Wisdom for Our Modern World

Simas Family Health Mission

Here at Simas Family Health we offer nervous system based health, sleep and parenting solutions.

In today’s modern world the typical “solutions” recommended for these challenges are either completely out of sync with our biology and/or fail to acknowledge what these challenges are signifying with their occurrence.

We deliver these sustainable, biologically in-sync solutions through Erin’s private practice, The Village Crazy Lady Podcast and the Simas Family Health blog, as well as the (currently) client-only Simas Family Health Shop.

Scroll all the way down to read the Simas Family Health Core Values. These will give you a better idea of what our solutions might include (and not include).

  • Our nervous system patterning is the ultimate driver of our health.

  • Every symptom in the body serves a communicative and important purpose.

  • Nutrition is only one small aspect of our health.

  • Neither supplements or pharmaceuticals should be used to mask the symptoms of deeper dysfunction.

Unfortunately, this is common practice, even in the alternative health space now.

  • Nature is always trying to work in our best interest.

We tend to blame an external source before we look internally.

It’s our bodies terrain that creates any problems that arise - nature, including the microbiome, is fundamental to our health. Nature is with us, not against us.

  • Whether or not an experience is traumatic for someone is dependent upon that individual’s perception of the experience (this is true for both children and adults).

  • Changing our daily habits and childhood patterning (including our thoughts and the way we interact with the world) is the hardest part of healing. It’s also the part that allows for long-term optimal health.

  • The continuous goal of healing is to realign with our biology and what it’s come to expect over the years.

This means adapting our behaviors in today’s modern world to get back as close to that biology as possible - seeking out nature and community, fostering nervous system safety, as well as pursuing opportunities for passion-fueled hard work, self-growth and soul fulfillment.

  • The way we parent and the physical and emotional environments we expose or children to on a daily basis are the absolute biggest drivers of their health.

  • Many widely accepted parenting practices are largely out of sync with the biology of our children.

    To name a few:

    Sleep training

    Prolonged (forced) parental separation

    Emotional distraction instead of validation

    Inconsistent boundaries and accountability

    Physical punishment

    Days filled with pre-scheduled activities

A focus on performance over wonder and academics over social skills

  • Diagnoses such as…

    Anxiety

    Depression

    Sensory processing disorder

    Autism

    ADHD

    Autoimmune disease

    Histamine intolerance

    Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS)

    Eczema

    Asthma

    PANS/PANDAS

    And more

…can all be traced back to dysfunction within the nervous system - and can be healed accordingly.

Why do all of these different diagnoses exist? Because each person’s body displays the same dysfunction differently.

  • Optimal health should be achievable and accessible for all.

  • The body always wants to heal.
